Rita Jokiranta works mainly with video, photography, light and installations. Lives and works currently in Stockholm, Sweden, and Mariehamn, Finland.
Since 1989 she is widely and actively exhibited in Finland, the Nordic countries and Europe. Artist-in-residencies in Ireland 1998 and 2002, New York 2006.
Represented in collections e.g. at Museum of contemporary art Kiasma, Helsinki and Helsinki City Art Museum. Public commissions comprising light installations and stage curtains.
Jokiranta’s art often explores the dynamic between image (moving or still), event and interpretation. In her video works she also focusses on visuality, light and the effects of time, movement and rhythm.
